Montgomery Industry Partners (MIP) is a stand-alone informal association of both Montgomery area industry partners as well as the Maxwell AFB and Gunter Annex community.  We are not affiliated with any other organizations.

    “Virtual Edition”

Until further notice, in accordance with the local Health Authorities recommendations, there will not be any MIP Meetings.  We will continue the weekly notes
PLEASE, email any news or updates that should be included in the MIP notes to
    mipdistro@MGM-partners.org

The MIP notes are intended for local Montgomery Area Industry and Government Partners.  Recipients may choose to forward.  Any email lists associated with MIP should not be forwarded or shared outside of MIP.

Format Notes:  The date at the end of the content indicates when the item was last updated.

    • ·         Contacting MIP.  Please start a new email instead of doing a “Reply” to the notes.  Questions, requests, etc. have gotten lost because the “Subject” line is the same and gets buried with “out of office” responses.

    • ·         COVID-19, Not Technical Issues, Mostly to Blame for Grey Wolf Delay, AFGSC Boss Says.  Air Force Global Strike Command boss Gen. Timothy M. Ray said the Air Force did not include any new MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters in its fiscal 2022 budget request because of certification delays related to the pandemic.  "I spent some time talking to Boeing about this three weeks ago," Ray said during a June 3 virtual event hosted by AFA's Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies.  (7 June 2021)

    • ·         Supreme Court Rejects Battle Over Male-Only Military Draft Registration.  (CBS News: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/supreme-court-military-draft-registration-male-only/)  The U.S. Supreme Court declined to review a case challenging the requirement under federal law that only males have to register for the draft when they become legal adults.  The case was brought by an organization called the National Coalition for Men, who were represented by the ACLU, and the plaintiffs asked the court to review the constitutionality of the Military Selective Service Act’s male-only requirement, calling it sex discrimination.  In a three-page opinion, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, joined by Justices Stephen Breyer and Brett Kavanaugh, seemed to express doubt that the law was in fact constitutional but cited the “Court's longstanding deference to Congress on matters of national defense and military affairs” in declining to take on the case.
