We are building a tribute mile, honoring our nation's fallen service members and celebrating our military, at the Air Force Marathon this Saturday, September 21. Each volunteer will be presented with the American flag bearing the name of a fallen service member who has paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. With a new connection to the Air Force, we have an unprecedented number of personal requests by family members that their loved ones be honored on the course.
The wear blue Mile will be located at Mile 2.5 on both the marathon and half marathon courses. Parking is available at the Rod and Gun Club on Hebble Creek Road. Volunteers should arrive by 5:30am prior to the roads closing at 6am and will receive a wear blue shirt and breakfast. We anticipate volunteers serving until approximately 9am or until the last runner has passed through the wear blue Mile.
We are excited to build a meaningful community at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, that connects our Air Force families, families of the fallen, and community supporters to create a meaningful living memorial.
