The AFCEA Montgomery Chapter continues to monitor the Federal, DOD and local guidelines regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The current DOD travel restrictions extend through mid-May. MITS 2020 events are planned to begin 18 May and are just outside the current DOD guideline.
The Montgomery Chapter is continuing event planning and will advise the community as more information becomes available. We will make a final decision by 15 April 2020 based on the situation. The health and safety of MITS participants and the community will be our top priority. We recommend that attendees not incur any additional non-refundable reservations or other expenses until the decision is made.
If the MITS 2020 event is canceled, the Chapter intends to fully refund all attendee registrations and sponsorships except for those that desire to donate to the Chapter’s Education Foundation (non-profit, tax deductible), or roll their paid sponsorship to our next Golf Tournament and/or Conference (either rescheduled later this year or in May 2021).
Our heartfelt appreciation goes to our Sponsors and Speakers who have so far committed to support MITS 2020. We know this situation is far from over but is temporary and our Nation will return to normal operations.
The networking between government, industry and academia provided by events like MITS serves to speed capability to the warfighter, improve efficiency, and ultimately keep America safe. We will remain vigilant and stay engaged during this disruptive time and will communicate as the situation evolves. We will continue to update our web site with any status changes that occur before 15 April 2020.
We sincerely appreciate your support and for giving us time to respond appropriately given the rapidly changing situation.
AFCEA Montgomery President
