    • ·         AFA Daily Report
    • ·         AFRL Will Realign, Not Split.  The new commander of the storied Air Force Research Laboratory will realign—not reorganize—the labs so it can ably support both the new U.S. Space Force and its traditional Air Force customers.  "We’ll be one AFRL serving two services: The Air Force and the Space Force,” said Brig. Gen. Heather L. Pringle, commander of AFRL, in an interview with Air Force Magazine.  A new deputy technical executive officer will be “responsible for integrating our space [science and technology] portfolio,” Pringle said, and will report directly to her.  The new executive will be “the single focal point for the U.S. Space Force,” she added.  Pringle, who took command in June, said the realignment is her No. 2 priority behind implementing the Air Force’s 2030 Science and Technology Strategy. (4 August 2020)
    • ·         Trump Swears in Brown as Air Force Boss in Oval Office Ceremony.  Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. took a ceremonial oath of office Aug. 4 in a surprise event at the White House, two days before he officially becomes the 22nd Chief of Staff of the Air Force.  Accompanied by his family and senior Air Force and Defense Department leaders, Brown raised his right hand and took an oath administered by Vice President Michael R. Pence.  President Donald J. Trump moved the short ceremony to the Oval Office at the last minute.  The Senate unanimously confirmed Brown in a historic 98-0 vote in June.  He will become the first African American officer to serve as chief of staff of one of the armed forces, after holding leadership positions in combat organizations around the globe.  (5 August 2020)

    • ·         DoD CIO Attempts to Remove Non-Technical Obstacles to Digital Transformation.  (Federal News Network’s “Federal Drive with Tom Temin” podcast)  For Defense Department Chief Information Officer Dana Deasy, digital transformation was never just about the cloud.  This is why making the Air Force’s dev/sec/ops program, known as Platform One, a DoD-wide, enterprise-wide service is an important milestone.  The full new article can be found at https://federalnewsnetwork.com/it-modernization/2020/08/dod-cio-attempts-to-remove-non-technical-obstacles-to-digital-transformation/(6 August 2020)

    • ·         AFITC Update.  The decision has been made to have the AFITC 2020 as a Virtual Event.  This decision was made due to considerations of continuing travel restrictions, as well as the difficulty in forecasting what the COVID “hot spots” may be in August, both here in Montgomery and elsewhere.  Plans are underway to maintain the agenda as previously announced.  However, the schedule will be spread out across 4 days to accommodate office distractions and other lessons learned from similar virtual conferences.  Just as with a normal AFITC, there will be keynote addresses (many will be live and afford opportunities for Q&A), breakout sessions, as well as “Virtual Vendor Booths.”  Sessions will be recorded and available for up to 2 months after the event, which will make it easier for OCONUS participants to participate on their own schedule and within their own time zone if they so choose.  Formal announcement from SAF/PA is due out shortly.  MC2, the AFITC management contractor, has updated the information for the virtual approach, virtual vendor booths, etc.  On-line attendee registration is scheduled for early July.   Continue to check the website, www.afitc-event.com, for up to date information and continued updates.  (26 June 2020)
    • ·         AFITC 2020 Virtual Exhibits.  Due to the impact of COVID-19, AFITC 2020 is a virtual event on 24-27 August 2020.  Like the live event, the virtual exhibit space provides multiple ways to interact with conference registrants  (e.g., videos, product/demo links, white papers, live chat, etc.) and also provides avenues to present and showcase company, service, product and training information.  All content and contact information in your virtual exhibit space will remain open and active through October 2020.  The pricing for all virtual booths is $2,650.  It is a great opportunity to reach a much larger global Air Force audience with great flexibility during and after the conference.  If you have questions about specifics or about any special needs, details, or information at contact aphillips@mc-2.com or 678.398.2650.  To sign up go to https://www.afitc-event.com/exhibit/#1593090906599-fd5480f7-f17d.

    • ·         Innovate AFITC.  Be sure to read the Innovate AFITC flyer at the end of the notes for an exciting opportunity.  The event is completely virtual and will feature a variety of events; app build and pitch, network administration and Esports.  Participants from industry as well as the military are needed.  (7 August 2020)
    • ·         PMI Chapter Webinar.  Topic: There IS an “I” in team.    Do you know the old saying- “there's no "I" in team”? Everybody says it’s true, but I just don’t get it.
