About Fast Rope

Why Fast Rope

Fast Rope is a teaming metaphor for the incredible strength of combining individual strands into a single unit of stronger braided rope. Like the braided Fast Rope, individuals and companies find common ground and combine to add to the overall strength of the team. An interesting fact, Fast Rope itself is used in Military Special Operations to quickly and effectively deploy teams on target.

Our Past

Founded in 2009, Fast Rope started with a half dozen trusted people meeting informally first thing in the morning, in a small coffee shop in outside Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. The goal was to share useful market insights and seek out opportunities to team and win work. Soon the idea picked up in the Washington DC area with meetings in the Pentagon City Mall and expanded to include meetings in San Antonio, in close proximity to Joint Base Randolph-Lackland AFB. Since that time Fast Rope has expanded to over 300 members.

Our Future

Fast Rope will continue to grow through expanding our membership and the number of small, trusted groups of people meeting to discuss market insights and teaming opportunities at Round Table Meetings.  The face-to-face dialogue with trusted people is invaluable, augmented with technology via our Fast Rope Portal and online Forums and Meeting notes sharing.

Mission

To effectively organize and facilitate the ethical sharing of information and relationship building, seek out common ground and then team and create opportunity.

Fast Rope does not take the place of other large Government to Industry Professional Associations like AFCEA or NDIA, rather it compliments them and serves as an invaluable Peer to Peer Industry Forum where industry partners share useful insights and seek opportunities with each other to team and win work. Government is encouraged to search the member directory but are restricted from viewing the Peer-to-Peer Industry Member Forums Online.

Critical Success Factors

  • Effectively organize small group face to face Round Table Meetings to build trust and share useful information.
  • Leverage technology to optimize knowledge sharing and teaming.
  • Effective meeting facilitation by Fast Rope Facilitators.
  • Individual members must make a concerted effort to be proactive and come to meetings with useful information for the other members.

Core Values

  • Be trustworthy: All discussions are conducted ethically and with an open mind.
  • Extend yourself to others: People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
  • Share knowledge: Information is power, come to meetings prepared to share useful knowledge with your peers.
  • Be proactive, create opportunity, don't wait for it to come to you.
